I have not spoken with Derek, yet...yeah, I know...but, here's an abstract anyways.
Group movement and dance are a viable means for
helping people in all stages of development experience trust. I will be doing research on the varied ideas
of and demarcations of psychological trust.
In addition, I will be exploring, both through observation and academic
research, how body movement relates to emotional development and
well-being. Most of my observations will
be of young children. I will be doing
movement activities with different age groups at the Sugar Grove Developmental
Day School.Members of my community will
join me for informal “movement” events, and I will develop a before and after
questionnaire to help me understand whether or not individuals experienced
trust, and what about the activity allowed/disallowed each of them to do so. By the end of this project/thesis I aim to be
able to state with confidence that, ‘how we perceive our body in the space we
are in correlates to how we perceive ourselves in the environment we are in.’
